Sling shooting has existed for very long, but no-one has ever been able to define exactly when it began (between the 12th and 6th century BC).

This artefact appeared in the Mediterranean world due to its dry arid climate, and its use was a daily thing.
At first it seems, the sling was used for hunting and then for war. Since the sling was invented, it has been used continuously.
It is a simple instrument made of rope and a leather pad used to launch the projectile. Even though its form does not change, there are 4 different techniques that can be used.
It can be used together with a baton, and projectiles in the past have been stones, pieces of ceramic or lead.
The average range for a projectile is of 200 metres and the rate per shot is between 6-12 projectiles a minute!!!
