Real Club Deportivo Mallorca SAD (or RCD Mallorca) was founded in 1916, and its kit has been worn by many well-known professional players. Since 1999, the city of Palma and the Mallorca football club have the new "Son Moix" stadium, built for the University Olimpic Games and that replaces the old "Lluis Sitjar" that was inaugurated in 1945.
The team lost their inspirational Samuel Etoo, elected best African player in 2003, but signed the Suisse International Patrick Müller.
